Physical infrastructure

The physical layer that keeps everything running

Structured cabling and fiber lay the connectivity foundation; data center structure, cooling, electrical work and UPS keep operations continuous under load.

Overview

What physical infrastructure does TF&RS provide?

Short answer

Data and power cabling, fiber with accessories, data center physical structure, raised flooring, cooling infrastructure, metal cable trays, electrical work, and UPS and power backup.

These are the parts of an IT environment that are hardest to change once built. Getting them right up front is what lets networks, servers and security systems run reliably for years.

Three foundations

Connectivity, space and power

Connectivity

Cabling & fiber

The cable plant everything connects through.

Why it matters

Infrastructure problems show up everywhere else

Power interruptions

Without proper UPS and backup, a brief outage can take systems and data down with it.

Heat and airflow

Poor cooling and rack layout shorten equipment life and raise energy costs.

Untidy cabling

Unplanned cable runs make faults slow to trace and changes risky.

Data center

Built for load, airflow and access

From raised flooring and cooling to the physical structure itself, data center work is planned around how the room will be used and maintained.

  • Data center physical structure
  • Raised flooring
  • Cooling infrastructure
  • Hot and cold aisle optimisation (documented in the telco engagement)

How we deliver

Planned, built and supported

The same five-stage delivery applies to physical infrastructure, from equipment selection to support.

  1. 01

    Understand & select

Your requirement first, then the right equipment.

  2. 02

    Install

    Hands-on technical people on site.

  3. 03

    Configure

Set up for how you actually operate.

  4. 04

    Integrate

Joined cleanly to what you already run.

  5. 05

    Support

    Continuing after installation day.

Questions

Infrastructure questions

Can’t see your question? Ask our team

What is included in physical IT infrastructure?

The physical layer that networks and systems run on: data and power cabling, fiber with accessories, data center physical structure, raised flooring, cooling infrastructure, metal cable trays, electrical work, and UPS and power backup.

Does TF&RS build or upgrade data center infrastructure?

Yes. TF&RS provides data center physical structure, raised flooring and cooling. One documented engagement was a data center physical infrastructure overhaul with hot and cold aisle optimisation for a telco operator.

What is hot and cold aisle optimisation?

A way of arranging racks so that cool air is supplied to the front of the equipment and hot exhaust air is kept separate. It helps cooling work more efficiently; in the telco engagement, outcomes included energy efficiency and reduced operational costs.

Does TF&RS repair UPS systems?

Yes. UPS repairing and power-related support is part of TF&RS managed support. See Managed Support, AMC & SLA.
